We won 3 - 0 Report by Leggs

Ladies 2 decided the best way to prepare for playing against second in the league was to meet for a team talk over steak and red wine the night before. Tactics were spoken of, glasses clinked, gossip swapped. We were ready!

All awoke with determination and vigour. Tread on the weak and hurdle the dead, leave your hangovers on the side of the pitch ladies was the battle cry.

12 arrived eventually , 1 should have been in bed nursing that cold, many wincing through pain and gripes.
The match started strong, we pushed and pushed , ran the majority of our opponents down, Fliss tried the new header manoeuvre but having seen the resulting lump that one has been sent back to the drawing board.

Toni ran the right wing time and time again threading the eye of needle with her fine ball skills but still the 13 year old goal keeper denied us.
A well fed ball into the D by yours truly resulted in a Mellor post out of the air into the back of the goal. Off we go ladies .....

More excellent play with Fliss, Nicky and Andrea battling, Leggs forgetting the “play deep” pre match talk, all fighting away in the mid field to keep feeding the forwards. Excellent crosses in from Andrea and Sammy that were narrowly missed by Mellor and Toni. Short corners defended with commitment, Netty clearing the post and denying their forwards again and again, that girl gets low.

At the commencement of the second half they came at us with a new determination but Pav Netty Leggs And Kat stood firm. Mrs B kicking away their challenges, Netty providing the wall, Pavs’tackles disarming their advance. Then came our goal number two, mids creating space to feed the ball in, a battle for it took place, bodies flying everywhere, Mellor again, another goal in the bag. Much whooping and mooing.
Soon after VPs momentum saw her clattering into a nearby player, horns locked, words exchanged, maybe a threat or two who knows ... passion comes in a few 4 letter words

The thirst for the win continued, they pushed all they had at us, resulting in a short corner for them, stood on the line ready to advance when Kat began dancing and singing. Oh wait that’s sounds of pain and the movement of a wounded gazelle, floored by cramp. Whatever get ready , deaths door or not you are needed by love , up she steps snotty nose and chesty cough not preventing her from answering the call of a cow in distress (no insult intended Kat?)

Whatever more than makes up the numbers tackling and tracking when her lungs are telling her not to.

Denied many a short corner eventually the time comes. Leggs steps up, a number two asks her fantasy hockey sponsor?! ,well why the hell not. Let them run, keep them fooled, a second more, Nicky holds her nerve and passes back to Leggs who with all her might gives it an almighty sweep Bang Boom, the sound of the back board, a chorus of Mooooos, less than subtle celebrating much to the disgust of the opposition.

Oh they were not going to let this lie. The last five minutes of the match so short corners and side lines deep into our defensive half We fought, fought again and them some more. All day ladies Pav shouted, we can take this ALL DAY
Finally the whistle went. Victory and a clean sheet was ours. Awesome team effort all round , blood sweat and tears. More ordered for next week.
