We lost 4 - 1 Report by Andrea

It’s been 100 years since women have been able to vote. COWS weren’t able to mark this momentous occasion with a win but tried their hardest and like those women 100 years ago put 100% into the cause.

A great performance from COWS today with dives, slides and knickers on show. Again despite the score the mighty cows played well as a team against 'top o' the league Camberley'.
Although most of our players arrived by road, on reflection this long journey to Camberley might have been better by going with a low cost airline. It was well beyond the M25 (yes this far!) tucked away in a nice estate. (Not the kind of estate we get in Croydon though!).
A fairly even start with play up and down the pitch, out to the edges and then back in again... ho hum the usual game of 2 halves for a while. Unfortunately Camberley scored 2 goals and tipped the balance. COWS fought back with a goal from ‘top goal scorer Mrs Mellor’. How it came to be in the D is still a mystery- some said it was pushed in by Robbo? Others claimed it was a hit from me into the goal until I pointed out I was off pitch at the time. Maria was mentioned too... the wonders of Cows never ceases to amaze!
There were slides and falls from Howhard and falls and flashing from Mrs B whose red knickers went on display. Nice to see Sharon out of goal as she had some cracking hits up the pitch. Maria’s previous life as a goalie was evident when instead of using her stick to get the ball she simply slid towards it. Kat came out of most tackles ball glued to stick (trickery here?) and Robbo did her midfield thing (passing, calling, distributing cheese..). Despite some of the team having a wild night out last night (posh dinner lot) there was little evidence of hangovers with only the odd ball going astray. Strong defence from Leggs and Lisa, calling and good passing from Jo and Bruno, top sprinting from Poppy and Jade. Excellent goal keeping from Lisa who slid, kicked and saved- a real star today.
Thanks to Maria’s dad who umpired for us and the rest of her family for their support.
