The team rode into SW15 on time to a sunny and frost free pitch ready to rob Bank of England of 3 points.
The dual started well and we spent the first 35 in their half which led to several short corner opportunities (Sheriff TP constantly chivvying us along whilst we discussed our formation), but alas we were firing blanks.
Then the break came and with some excellent passing Naomi fired off a great shot into the corner. Goal! 1-0 at half time.
The second half started a bit sloppy, Nicky shot one of their players in the hand, but it was only a flesh wound and she kept going. Netty floored another one with her hit out but she got back on the horse and carried on. We were still in their half most of the time (Mrs B eventually getting a touch of the ball, just the one!). Again several short corners; left slip, right slip number 2, all misfiring. In the end Nicky decided we should try “shall I just hit it and see what happens?” and it worked with a deflection off a Bank foot and GOAL! 2-0.
However, this was not the end as Sharon M came bowling in after being subbed and ploughed into a Bank player. Sheriff TP was livid and immediately pulled up and grabbed the Green Card from his holster. Shock across all of our faces as Sharon M was sent off. When asking for how long he replied “2 mins and take off that watch. No watches allowed on pitch”. To which she got all Croydon anxty and mumbled that he could bugger off. After 2 mins Sharon made a jailbreak and Sheriff TP nearly blew a fuse on his dynamite and whipped out the Yellow Card. The whole team gasped with shouts of “she didn’t realise” and then that was the last straw for Sheriff TP who called El Capitano over and she too got a yellow card. (Sorry! ?).
Luckily there were only 2 mins left and so this did not affect our win.
Final score 2-0. Naomi firing off both shots.
