COWHC Ladies' 2s vs Cheam Ladies' 3s - 08th October 2016

We arrived at our new home pitch of PWs ready to get our first win on the board.
Lydia was surprisingly not hungover, Poppy unsurprisingly was.
Team tactics were discussed in the changing room, with clear instructions written up on the board:
1) Get the balls in the D
2) Score goals
3) Don't let goals in
4) Don't get injured
5) Win!!!!
Who knew that these simple instructions were the ticket? All the above were achieved.
The defence of Lisa in goal, Kat, Leggs & Netty kept a clean sheet - tight on the forwards as Lisa marshalled a defence that never really felt fully threatened.
The mids of Broni, Lydia, Nicky & Sue pushed the ball up the pitch and early on we had a few cracking shots on goal, Lydia and Kirsty being denied by inches hitting the post.
The sustained pressure & speed on too the oppo when they were in possession along side some great short passes ended with our first goal being dirty shoved past the keeper by Poppy in the first half.
Second half the forwards of Jo, Kirsty, Poppy & Claire H rotating in subs working with the mids kept the ball up in Cheam's half with Lydia firing off scorcher of a strike that the goalie had no chance at.
The only hitch in the game was we thought their number 2 was on our team, the number of passes to her was quite incredible - a stern talking to at teas about this not being the appropriate way to try and recruit people was needed.
All in all a 2-0 win and a fantastic team performance. Our first win of the season and a really fun game to boot.
