We lost 2 - 1 Report by Emer

So.....I have the memory of a goldfish, my friends sometimes call me Dory....so grabbed some inspiration/help/plagiarism from Charles Dickens.

A tale of two teams

We were the best at times, we were the worst at times, it was the age of wisdom (where we applied our looking up, calling, and passing), it was the age of foolishness (where we passed into oppo sticks or tried to stop a ball but deflected it into your own net instead…sorry…1-nil for Spencer), it was the epoch of belief (we knew we could it – our improvement was impossible to miss – we were down but we kept playing hard), it was the epoch of incredulity (we couldn’t believe they scored again making it 2-nil for Spencer), it was the season of Light (in the final minutes of the game Nicky scored a beaut in a short corner scenario sending whoops and cheers through the crowd 2-1, COWs were on the board!), it was the season of Darkness (then the whistle blew), it was the spring of hope (but we knew we had one more game in hand), it was the winter of despair (no despair, we just like to make things hard for us….a dramatic lot we are), we had everything before us (everything being a final make or break game to end the season), we had nothing before us (we have nothing but today’s game), we were all going direct to Heaven (in this case Dickens may have been referring to promotion…perhaps our goal for next year), we were all going direct the other way (here he may have meant demotion…something we will fight with all our might) – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only (and here Charles Dickens meant “GO COWS GO!”).
