We won 3 - 2

First of all Happy New Year.
The first game after Christmas, against Reigate, away. The weather was a bit murky but fortunately the rain held off.
About 10 minutes into the game Reigate had managed to get into our D,they had a shot, not a very good one, which I got my kicker to but I did not clear it. The ball seemed to be attached to my kicker, a Reigate player decided she would remove it and put it in the goal. 1-0 to Reigate. We had played well for that first 10 minutes, so 1-0 was not a very fair reflection of play. Heads went down, but we picked ourselves up again and took the play to Reigate and won a short corner. The ball was injected to Alex at the top of the D which she stopped and fired past the Reigate keeper. 1-1 at half time.
The second half started well and we managed to get in to the Reigate D again. There was a bit of a melee in front of the goal but play carried on, then another goal. I couldn't see who had scored, but it would appear that it was Alex again. 2-1 to us. There was some excellent play with Hannah battling her way into Reigate's 25 and D and Lena making some very speedy runsup the pitch. Some great passing. Then there seemed to be a bit of a lapse and Reigate managed to get in to our D again a couple of times. Another shot came from Reigate, I don't know how nig I thought the ball was, but I was about to kick it out of the D, but no it went under my foot into the goal. 2-2.
That seemed to fire us up again. Rachel got the ball in the Regate D, out came their keeper and wiped Rachel out. Penalty stroke awarded to us. Alex stepped up to spot, very calm. Stroke taken, goal scored, hatrick for Alex. 3-2 to us.
Wise words from Rochie on the side line, slow it down. We only had about 5 minutes left to play so we needed to keep hold of the ball, not give it away.
So we held on and finished the victors. 3 points to us. We have now moved up to 8th in the division. Onwards and upwards.
Well played everyone. Well done to Lena on getting POM. I will do my best to play better in future and not get MOM again so I don't have to write another match report!
Thanks to coach Rochie. And to Matt, James and Amelia's Dad. Also thanks to Adam Du Pre for umpiring.
Here's to next week and another 3 points. :-)
