COWHC Ladies 1s vs Reigate - 12th November 2016

Ah, the hockey gods have a funny way of showing their love for us, and November is obviously their month to set us Herculean tasks of endurance to test our love for the foibles of Surrey Div 3.

The week after our journey to Wimbledon, we travelled to Reigate on a gloomy rainy day, determined to brighten the surroundings with our dynamic play and to bag a much needed 3 points. It seemed at first that the hockey gods were eventually smiling on us, as we took a 2-0 lead through creative attacking play, with Rachel smacking home the opening goal, and Hannah following up after some sustained attacking play. Alas, the hockey gods were to have the last laugh, as they ensured that the floodlights failed to light up and the match was abandoned, with the Mighty COWs tantalisingly close to their first victory in a few weeks. Cue a little bit of despondency, before we vowed to avenge this unfairness in the rearranged fixture in January.

Hockey, eh? You just can't guess what the hockey gods have hidden up their sleeves for us. But the most important outcome is the team spirit that brings up back each week, and the knowledge that we are so close to completely nailing it and, when we do, Surrey Div 3 are not going to know what has hit them!

Two mysteries remains unsolved: how has Capt Nicky got away with so little stick for missing a league match because it was her birthday???!
And how come I got MoM after a blameless performance vs Wimbledon??? (Secretly I'm flattered that you were missing my match reports ...)
