COWHC Men's 2s vs Leatherhead Men's 1s - 07th January 2017

I'll try and keep this one reasonably short and sweet as it's currently 1pm and I'm sitting in Le Bon cafe (pretty decent! - but no Tresor) waiting for my panini. Saturday saw us line up against Leatherhead following a week off due to an icy pitch. A 1pm PB off meant arrival at the High for 12, except for captain "I don't play by my rules mother f*****s!" (say it with a Samuel L Jackson voice). Anyway, off to a good start...followed by a casual stroll down to the wrong side of Croydon High school :/

An overlooked fact was that Leatherhead sent spies into our team meeting and I think that's where we they took the upperhand. We started quite well knocking the ball about a bit and working hard enough but struggled to make a major impact. Cue Bash, our make-shift Left-back nursing a very merry Christmas belly stepped up for our short corner and deposited the ball in the bottom left. Boom!

They decided to wake up a bit and a few crappy passes and questionable decisions led to them slotting in past Tezza. The rest of the half was pretty un-eventful and we went in 1-1 even though there was a period they had 9 men on pitch :(. On a side note, some beardy prick started with me which led to a few choice words and this wonderful report. Second half was a game of two halves, they dominated the first half and scored 2 goals, the second half we bossed but could only get the 1 goal. Absolutely crunched by Pardeep and Kailash with his standard 2 yard-out deflection. Some great work by Will Chan, Bash, Ash to say just a few names and showed that when we turn up, we can beat anyone.

Special mention must go to their CB, every village has an idiot and Leatherhead didn't fail to deliver theirs...a well deserved MOM for Bash, great shift and great goal. Onwards and upwards chaps!
