COWHC Men's 2s vs Horley Men's 1s - 01st April 2017

After arriving on time and following a sub par warmup we started the game on the back foot absorbing a lot of Horley pressure. Our attacking play was limited and a disciplined Horley defence stood firm restricting us to shots from wide angles and half chances from short corners. A dry, slow pitch made the injection at PCs difficult making the Bash dragflick redundant. Important saves by Terry and some last ditch tackles kept the scores level at half time.

The half time team talk called for us to stay compact and prepare for the inevitable Horley pressure in the opening 5 minutes of the second half. What followed was 20 minutes of madness. A catalogue of errors - particularly in defence allowed Horley 5 goals in quick succession. Despite the result being a formality at this stage, we kept pushing trying to find a way back into the game. Our midfield were excellent - none more so than Ash who pounded every inch a of the astro searching for a route back into the game. Our resilience was rewarded after an excellent aerial assist by Pete Bashford, allowing Raj to score an excellent goal low into the bottom corner. Horley were happy to finish the game, transferring the ball around the back to see out the result.

All in all, a bad day at the office. Time to regroup and prepare for the final game of the season against Reigate.
