COWHC Men's 2s vs Epsom Mustangs - 16th Sept 2017

An early start (for some of us) saw us play against a very competitive young Epsom side.

The 10 men of COWHC started slowly and invited early pressure from the home side. Once team Chatwal arrived and we were returned to full strength we took a foothold in the game with Ollie H opening the scoring with a self proclaimed 'wondergoal'.

From then on we were fairly composed and controlled the game well from the back in a new look 4-3-3 formation. The 3 man midfield of Rochie, Ash and Will C worked very hard to cut off passing lines and press the Epsom 16 yard hits brilliantly.

The Epsom goal found a chink in our short corner defence and the ball just crept in past Terry and Raj.

In the second half, our press was relentless and very well organised. Despite the fact we were playing against a lower quality opposition, we stayed professional in our approach right until the end of the game. Our attacking play was great and a scoreline of 2-1 doesn't tell the full story. Will C will be having nightmares about the Epsom goalkeeper who denied him repeatedly.

Rochie's performance on pitch in midfield earned him Man of the Match. I won the coveted Dick of the Day award for 5 minutes of madness where I fell over myself, subbed myself off and gave possibly the worst pass of the season for Bash at a long corner.

Overall, a good day at the office with a 2-1 win.
