The 4th Team
Season 17/18; Episode 12 - JP-esus is risen
This week saw one of the regulars missing, with T. V. Carrachars having claimed "ain't no fool getting me to Woking". Sadly the rest of us had forgotten the sleeping tablets to slip into his Lucozade. However, after a prolonged absence we were able to welcome JP back to the ranks, his shoulder held together with spit and sellotape.
The troop made their way to deepest Surrey to take on the Wasps. They had been beaten back well pre-Christmas, but we knew on their home patch they would be a different prospect.
As the match got underway, The 4s got into their groove quickest and were playing some great, flowing hockey. The ball was zipping around and the pace of our raids was causing all sorts of problems. At the back, Old Man and Horny were like a machine, picking everything off that came near them.
One of the lightning breaks led to a ball being rifled across the Woking D. Debutant Will gambled bravely, throwing himself full length at it and getting the touch into the goal, sacrificing himself for the good of the team as he was landed on by an opposition defender and ended up being MedEvaced out.
1 - 0 at half time, although for some reason Ratcatcher thought it was 1 - 1, thus securing himself the DOD vote.
The second half was a more even affair as Woking shuffled their ranks and began to push forward more. The COW defensive line held, with some great blocks by Karl, Chris and James and Phil pulling off some fine saves.
As the match got stretched, the chances came at both ends, but everyone's sights were off and the target remained unbreached.
Final score 1 - 0
