We won 3 - 0 Report by Mike

After many years of floating aimlessly around in the bottom division of the Men's Surrey League, we've paid our dues time after time. No one can deny we've not done our sentence even though we committed no crime. Over the years, many poor boys with no families have stepped up to play for undermanned and under-gunned 4s: Adam, Max, Mike, JP, Chalky, Honey G, Gandalf the Grey, Ciaran, Jon, Karl, Walshy, Killer, Jude, Bob, Joe, Ross, Stuart Little, Hamjam, Qaz, Dav, Hoops, Foley, Angus, Ollie, Maundrell, Martin to name but a few of our Princes of the Universe.

Bad mistakes? Yes we've made a few: Ciaran jumping instead of kicking, Scotty talking instead of just walking, Mike attacking instead of defending, Ken going forwards instead of backwards, Karl and Jon both using 1 hand instead of 2 every game, and Ross drinking instead of detoxing just a sample but we all knew in our hearts, the show must go on!

We've had our share of sand, water, condom wrappers, bottles and diseases kicked in our faces (thank you Oasis), but we've come through it all, just so we could play the game!

And we mean to go on and on and on and on and on and on because now, you may not have known, we are the champions my friends!

Horley 2s were worthy opponents today with both teams up for the battle and keen for the fight. 3 nil could have been both 10 nil as well as 1 nil scrape. They fought to the end and pushed us at every moment. No less than 10 shorts fell their way but our defence stood firm and repelled every single one of them. They were gracious in defeat and in return we will endeavor to stop Guildford's promotion challenge, two away trips to Guildford next year is not what we want!

1 nil at the half and the talk was simple! Show them that... We'll keep on fighting till the end! The whistle went, 3 nil to the 4s! Adam, Bob and Ben were the providers of the goals and after Saturday's celebrations, details are hazy. But rest assured,,, all were a kind of magic!

Jubilation and chants of we are the champions ensued. Yes we are the champions if you didn't already know. No time for losers, AKA: M2's, cause we are the champions of Men's Surrey League Division 5!

Yes we've taken our bows curtain calls but enough is never enough. On we will push on as the show must go on!

Division 4, look out we are coming.
Will it be easy? No.
Do we want it to be easy? No.

Winning is addictive, and after all those years of hurt, we do not want to return to losing ways!

Promotion secured with 3 games spare, the title with 2 left to play but the season is not over yet with 3 things still to play for!

1. The 'Team of the Year' mantle is a three horse race between the M1s, M3s and M4s, who will keep the momentum going to win the prize and bragging rights?
2. M4's 'Top Goalscorer' is going down the wire with just 2 goals separating the trio of Adam, Bob and Joe.
3. Not to be outdone by the forwards, Ciaran and his defence are sitting on 8 clean sheets, can this be extended to 10 and therefore end the season on a 14 unbeaten run!

A corker of season... so far... a huge well done to everyone who has played their role and an even bigger thank you to all those who have supported us. Special mentions to all those have umpired us, both home and away: Nicky W, DP, Lydia, Martin, Ollie, Jack, Emma and AJ.

2 games left, let's not stop now!

POM: Hamjam for an industrious performance, as always.
DOD: The self-nominated Adam for slipping instead of scoring a sitter.
