From the ashes arises a Phoenix. An important 2-1 win with a scoreline that does little to represent the nature of the game.

With their season hanging in the balance, the 4s knew nothing but a win and 3 points would suffice this weekend. Consolidation can go netflix and chill; promotion is the only pudding on our menu this year. We want all the extras; ice cream, cream, sprinkles and a juicy red cherry.

A strong team of 16 lined up, ready to take the game by the balls. Max, JP, Stuart Little and Scotty Netherway returned with HamJam making his 4s debut. The plan was simple, play our game and use our superior numbers to our advantage not disadvantage.

The match report here on in is relatively simple, the rejuvenated 4s dominated the field as if they were Mr Grey training Miss Steele. 50 shades can go whip itself, this little cherry has found herself a new master.

Old Reigations could not handle the heat and wilted like Hillary Clinton, she promised much yet was found so wanting that her husband looked elsewhere. Monica for 2020? We all knew their pleasant Captain would implode yet know one expected it within the first 10. We 4s played on this, he was marked out of the game causing him to moan, scream and cry like Gandlaf the very Grey's groupies. As his frustrations grew, his team's unity evaporated. A simple plan with a simple outcome...

After a string of misses by what felt like the whole team, we grabbed the much needed opener. A lacklustre attack from the oppo was countered by an aggressive move with the ball moving well leaving the oppo no other choice than to chase their own tails. We pressed high and no mercy was shown, slick passing was the tool of choice and 'Golden Stick' contender Bob the Jaguar stuck away yet another goal. 1 nil to the 4s.

2 nil came with about 5 to go. Our tenacity and our attacking were rewarded with a short corner. A nice set piece fell to Bob whose shot was goal bound but was guided in by Stuart little just to be sure.... very James Mulley esque.

HT came and the talk was simple. Maintain the press, do not let up and continue to use our superior numbers to run the oppo ragged. Those from previous years also knew that their grumpy Captain could turn on a sixpence and score well if he chose to stop berating his own team so the defence knew to deny him the ball at all times.

The 2nd half came, and with it 5 minutes of Old Reigation spirit and pressure. The 4s were clearly still awaiting their halftime orange as somehow the oppo grabbed a lifeline and the scores were 2-1. I didn't see the goal but I have it in good authority that eternal DoD Ciaran Pell was responsible.

A good game ensued with lots of pace, effort and slick passing yet the scores stayed the same. It could have and should have been more but the win was the most important item on the agenda and the team delivered it.

Having sixteen can be as damaging as much as it can be helpful when not handled correctly. Today the team used it to their advantage; players ran themselves ragged, rotated, rested and then repeated the cycle.

A performance to be proud of!

PoM= JP
DoD= Ciaran

Special mentions to umpires Jack and Ollie, much appreciated.
