COWHC Men’s 4s vs Trinity Mid-Whitgiftian Men’s 4s – 17 October 2015

A heated derby game full of passion, fight and near misses.

Midwives started strong with Croydon unorganised due to late arrivals and people playing out of position. However they could not utilise their possession and so Croydon gradually forced their way into the match. We were playing well, stretching their middle and back lines and forced a few short corners. Some decent set pieces were well defended and Croydon were soon punished for their ineffiency to score.

Miscommunication at the back gave away an embarrassing short corner which the opposition dispatched gleefully.

This is where, personally, things got interesting in a bad way. After a heated discussion with the Umpire, a dubious foul quickly became a green followed by an even quicker yellow for Mike.

Half time came with the score being 1 nil.

Lack of composure and ill discipline then crept in and constant over committal finally came back to haunt us. A quick breakaway was picked excellently by their youngest gun and a nice set up meant a simple finish for 2-0 to the Midwives.

Crows rallied with minutes to go with Adam sweetly teeing up the ever reliable Bob for a smart finish.

The whistle went soon after with the scores at 2-1 to our rivals.

A game that should have been won was lost and eleven men walked off the pitch disappointed.
