We won 4 - 0

An early away game, 1 point needed to secure promotion, opposition second in the form table behind us, an opposition with the 3rd best defence in the league no less... all of this could have proved to be a toxic mix, but the boys of COWHC 3s are not phased by that and are ready to do somethin' impressive this season.

We flew out of the traps at Spencer, and their overprotected goal took a battering. Keith being one of the main people on the receiving end of some outrageous saves from their 'keeper. Someday I will understand how he managed to get to one particularly well placed, well struck shot...

Shots were flying in from our forwards and midfielders and the Spencer defence somehow held strong until Dav managed to break the ice and got the opening goal.

Us boys at the back were having a relatively comfortable morning, until Hutch decided that, at 1 - 0 and us seemingly unable to get a second goal, he'd make life interesting by getting bullied off the ball by a Spencer forward on the edge of our D. I scrambled back to get something on the ball as the Spencer player pulled the trigger and from the resulting deflection we managed to scramble the ball clear. I'm pretty sure the oppo felt they were lucky to only be 1 down, had they managed to get to half time level though, it would have been criminal.

As usual the team talk was to remain composed and more goals would come.

We started the second half as he had the first, with some wonderful passing and movement keeping the Spencer defence and goalkeeper busy. However when Mulley pounced to make it two, well, they didn't exactly collapse but we sensed blood. Everytime we went forward we looked dangerous, and every time a Spencer defender looked to clear their radar showed only the white shirts of COWHC 3s.

Will made it three with an excellent solo goal before Hutch managed to get himself involved at both ends. Having already slipped up defensively in the first half, as alluded to previously (it's my prerogative to point this out again as it is a rare occurrence... or is it?!?) he decided to make life interesting again by once again getting caught in possession. However after admitting "oops! I did it again" he duly went up the other end of the pitch to fire home a superb strike from a short corner.

Even the goal wasn't enough to save him from getting the DOD vote, although dP, back giving himself a run out in the side for the first time in the season, tried hard to match him by demonstrating he's lost none of his skills... at planting his foot right on top of the ball!

4 - 0 the final score. A fourth clean sheet in a row to boot!

Baby, one more time with the same and we're champions. But that's not enough for us - dP wants 9 more points and 3 more clean sheets please, and skipper, we were born to make you happy!

POM as Mulley for not only scoring but never giving the opposition defence a moment's peace.

DOD may have been referred to already, but it deserves highlighting again simply because I never expected to write this... DOD was Hutch!

Thanks to Nicky W for umpiring and Jenks for sideline support.
