Just don't ask...

This week saw the most advanced preparation ever bestowed upon ladies 2s. With mid-week, coach-led team talks at the club house (accompanied by pizza, beer, cake and cheese of course), we felt confident in our game plan and psyched for the match ahead. This week also saw us taking a leaf out of the men's 1s book and having our pre-game meet at the clubhouse. Much to the dismay of many members of the team, our ever faithful and exuberant El Capitano, Robo, disallowed the purchasing of alcohol, including a quick nip of port. With this in mind, we drove to the pitch with plenty of time for a warm up.
12.00...whistle blows...game starts...12.35...whistle blows...half time...12.40...whistle blows...we scored...game begins...they scored...games ends...1.15...whistle blows...that's the end of that section
Feeling extremely frustrated about the distinct lack of points we slothed our way off the pitch with venom in our veins. Being the silver lining kind of team we are, we cheered up at the thought of what was promised to be delicious teas and a pint back at the their clubhouse. Once again, the team felt somewhat dismayed as the bar was shut (I mean WTF?!) and the teas were lacklustre. Expecting a hearty meal involving cumberlands, the ladies 2, in line with what appears to be a regular theme in COWHC, were left disappointed and unsatisfied with the distinct lack of decent sausage on offer.
Not having had our fill of quality hockey, some of us decided to travel to Croydon High School to support and learn from the men's 1s. Unfortunately, we took our bad luck with us and instead focussed on making up for Robo's pre-match booze ban...sorry boys!
Thank you again to the fabulous Adam DP!
POM - Vicky...it's a family affair this week
Lessons learnt:
- Alcohol improves performance, whether from coursing through our veins from the night before or the nip of port we were so bitterly denied
- Score more goals when having 80% of possession
- Don't use the keeper as target practice
- Run faster and score more goals
- Close your legs
