Where’s Margy? Report by Indy

09:50am. (Margy sends the 2s a Whatsapp) “Boys awful news, cannot get out of work this weekend. Sorry for change of plans. All the best and keep me posted please!” Two hours before the meet time. “Stay low the night before Margy,” they said. Rumours have it he was out the night before with the Rugby lads basking in a bottle of Chateau Latour 2009. A year of milking horses in Argentina clearly changes a mans priorities and outlook on life.

An hour and 25min drive in traffic along the M25 to Camberley, we finally arrive at the pitch. Well most of us do. Kailesh decided to turn up 5 minutes before push back. For those of you that do not know, Kailesh had just arrived back from his holiday romance with Raj in Peru. Kailesh whisked his new toyboy to South America to experience altitude sickness and eating Alpaca steak off each other’s naked bodies. Its 2018 folks, we don't judge here. Raj’s Dad however does judge, and he is disgusted with his son’s latest choice in a Sugar Daddy.

Back to the hockey! Croydon started very well. Camberley were on the back foot from the get go. Will C was causing all sorts of problems for their defence charging down the right. Within 5 minutes Croydon were 1-0 up. Joe H miss-hit a shot that was going very wide, almost embarrassingly wide. Luckily for him Will C was there to clean up Joe’s mess and slotted the ball into the goal!

Croydon missed a few chances in the first half along with some dodgy umpiring. It should have been 3-0 but instead it was 1-1 at half time. Camberley scoring on the break. Second half and Camberley were on the charge. Terry making some excellent saves with Ollie and Ash bossing the midfield. Our very own make shift Roberto Carlos (Jay) was doing a good job filling in for MARGY at left back until he occasionally decided to pass to their forwards. Our defence was overall pretty strong. Until the dreaded moment happened and Camberley scored!

2-1 down and Croydon were on the charge; creating chance after chance but weren’t clinical. Until Sugar Daddy Kailesh scored his classic short corner routine, courtesy of Will C pushing the ball to him. 2-2 with 10 minutes left.

Unfortunately Croydon were not able to take their chances. A game they should have won 6-2. Heads up. New league. It’s an undefeated start!
